We are so proud of how the two dogs have settled into our new lifestyle. First thing in the morning one of them bangs on the bedroom door to tell us its time to get up. (We aren’t too sure which one of the pesky dogs it is) We will catch whoever it is one day!
We start with a quick morning walk then breakfast. Then they are happy to sit outside tethered up while we have our showers and get ready (weather permitting).
They both sleep when we are travelling and I think they are both enjoying arriving at a different place. There’s obviously lots of new locations & smells every day.
Until now we haven’t had to worry too much about the temperature as it has been around 20-25 degrees most days. So we don’t leave the dogs if it is hot and if the temperature isn’t too high we go off and explore the town in the evening. This might not suit everyone but it is a sacrifice we are willing to make to be able to do this trip with our furry friends.
Oakley has just turned 10 years old and is managing a 5 mile walk if taken at a gentle pace. We over did it one day and he started holding one leg up at a time as if to say “my legs are aching”. So we know his limits and we are working on increasing his fitness levels slowly.
They are both very different characters and Oakley will happily help himself to any leftovers-that is the problem with having a dog thats head is at table height!
All in all its going well and the dogs are happier than we have seen them in years!
