We were recommended this Aire by Daz Wilson Brown who is following us on Facebook. Not only is this Aire situated in the grounds of a chateaux but its FREE ! Yes FREE, with free electricity too-so an added bonus and you are able to stay 48 hours.
The weather was delightful but it was a little too hot for the dogs, both days it was 34-36 degrees. So we relaxed around the motorhome, sunbathed and read books for most of our stay.
We did participate in the ‘degustation’ which includes a free tour of the vineyard and is very informative. This takes place at certain times during the day and some of the tours are in English..however, we didn’t want to leave the dogs in the midday heat so opted to skip the tour and just do the wine tasting. A lot of information was given about the four different wines we tasted however we had joined the French speaking tour so we both picked up a little information and probably didn’t learn as much as we could- hey ho it didn’t really matter to us we still had a nice time.
Although you are not obliged to buy any of the wines and there was no pressure, we came away with 2 bottles of red that were on promotion for 10 euros. We decided not to buy the bottle featured below ! OMG how much??
We met Martin and Sheila who are from Torquay. They are retired and basically spend 6 months of the year in the UK and the other 6 months away in their motorhome; they were on their way to Spain for 3 months. We had a lovely evening sitting outside chatting and slurping wine.
There was a lot to do here from having lunch with wines included to a horse drawn carriage ride around the grounds.
A really nice stop and a great Aire.
