We had been told that Sintra was a ‘Must visit’ if we were staying in Lisbon. It is famed for its beautiful buildings and its numerous historic palaces and castles.

Sintra has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1995.

We decided not to visit the palace as it was the Easter holidays and it was just too busy. Instead we wandered around the historic centre which is famous for its 19th Century Romanticist architecture.

The roads are narrow and cobbled so we were glad we had decided to leave the motorhome at the football club.
Sintra is consistently ranked as one of the wealthiest and most expensive areas of Portugal. So its fair to say its not the cheapest place to visit but a great day out and definitely worth a visit.
