Sas van Gent is located in the province of Zeeland. It is located right on the border to Belgium.
The Ghent-Terneuzan Canal passes through Sas van Gent, the towns name means the sluice of Ghent. it is a thorough fare for large boats heading out to sea and it was interesting watching some huge ships being pulled along by the small tugs.

The Aire here is free, it doesn’t have any services but there is a lot of room which meant we could stay here for a couple of days and open up the van to make the dogs as comfortable as possible while we waited for the heatwave to pass. The only downside meant we couldn’t put the fans on but with every negative there is a positive and we picked up a lovely breeze albeit a hot breeze off the water.
We made the most of our stopover by enjoying a couple of BBQs.
