The Scala dei Turchi or in English ‘the Stair of the Turks’ is a rocky cliff on the coast. It is situated just outside Agrigento in a little town called Realmonte.
It lies between two golden sandy beaches. This limestone formation is in the shape of a staircase-hence the name. The latter part of the name derives from the frequent raids carried on by Moors.
It hasn’t been a UNESCO site for long it was only included in 2007.
It really is a majestic masterpiece and one not to be missed if you visit Sicily.
