Due to the cost of our E Bikes we certainly didn’t want to take the risk of not insuring them. We have also invested in some ‘gold’ standard bike locks and chain.
We didn’t anticipate insuring the E bikes was going to an issue until we started ringing around insurance companies.
We both sat on google and telephoned nearly every insurer to be told that because we were travelling for a 12 month period they would not insure the bikes. One insurer quoted us more than the cost of the bikes!
Colin called Velosure Cycle Insurance and explained our situation and initially they also said it wasn’t a standard policy that they offered. The lady was very helpful and asked us to leave it with her and she would call the underwriters and ring us back within 24 hours. We thought well that will be the end of that then.
However, as promised she called and informed us that they would insure the bikes. We were delighted as the policy is great and gives us peace of mind.
