We were recommended Terme di Saturnia a few weeks ago. It is a group of sulphuric springs located about 3 kms outside the village of Saturnia. The spring that feeds the baths, cover a vast territory that stretches from Mount Amiata.
We walked the dogs down in the morning to have a look. The springs run along the side of the road and as we were walking along the road there were people in the water with their pile of clothes on the edge. It really was a bizarre sight to see.
The sulphurous spring water is a constant 37.5 degrees and are well known for their therapeutic properties, offering relaxation and well being from being immersed in them.
The main thermal waterfalls are located at an old mill called Cascate del Mulino. It really is a magical place and the travertine rockpools were naturally carved out by the water.
The small pools are continually filled with water descending from the water falls. We had to be a bit careful under the waterfalls as the water gushes down so quickly it nearly ripped our bathers off!
We relaxed in the spring for a couple of hours and the sun was starting to go down when we got out and it was a little chilly so we got dressed pretty sharpish! Well, after a selfie!!
This is should be a definite must see if you are visiting the area, oh and its free !! What more could you ask for??
