Our first stop in Spain. We have chosen here as a base to be able to visit Barcelona as the transport links are good and it is only about 40 km away.
We spent the day looking around the town which was historically a fishing village and is still the 3rd largest port in Catalonia.
Placa de la Vila is a lovely town square and houses many of the iconic public buildings.
Its quite a large town and has a delightful golden sand beach and promenade. There is also a market every Saturday.
It’s also our first taste of Spain as both of us have only visited mainland Spain a couple of times. Prices in Spain seem a lot cheaper than in France and Italy. We couldn’t believe it when we bought a glass of wine and a pint of beer and it cost less than 5 euros.
