We loved it here! Porto Covo is only a small village located about 8 miles south of Sines on the West Coast.
The beaches are white fine sand and the sea is turquoise.
A lot of the beaches are in secluded coves hidden under the rock cliffs.
Only a handful of restaurants were open. We had lunch in a fish restaurant and shared a Turbot between us.
We found a self service ice cream buffet. Over 20 different ice creams to choose from, a choice of toppings and sauces. You paid by weight and at 14 euros per kilo it wasn’t cheap but it was delicious.
We had some lovely cliff top walks.
We also took the Raleigh E bikes for a spin.
The sunset was glorious over the sea.
We stayed at Campsite Costa do Vizor. The campsite has recently been refurbished and the facilities are very good. They even had a large dog shower with hot water so we gave Oakley and Lily a well needed bath.

have visited Porto Covo three times and enjoyed each one.
Loved the small bars/cafes where the local socialised and the butchers shop, no window display just a huge cold storage area/refridgerater!
We were told last winter that the large aire in the middle of town next to the sports centre had been closed down. Any idea if this is correct?
Hi Fred. We didn’t see any Aires. There are 2 campsites, both are in good locations and I think the Aire you are referring to is one of them. We stayed at the other one 🙂 Porto Covo is such a lovely place we really enjoyed our time there.
