Our first stopover was just so we could get our bearings. Watten is located approximately 15 miles away from Calais.
The Aire was just what we was looking for. We parked overlooking the small lake, which had plenty of walking areas around it for the dogs. The Aire is also right on the canal so plenty of choices for walking the dogs.
It was free to stop the night and has a grey waste, WC emptying point but if you need water then a token needs to be obtained for just 3 euros.
The town is a short walk across the canal and has a bakery and a couple of restaurant’s.
We have definitely ear marked this Aire for when we are next in the area.
