We too are planning a long tour with a large dog. We’ve just found your blog and were so moved by the sad news of Oakley.
We have only just found this model and layout after many weeks of searching. Your video seems to confirm what we felt, that’s it’s perfect for a couple with canine companion. However we wondered how you managed without a rear view due to cycle rack and what things you would change or add to the Bürstner – we noted you did watch TV eventually?
Sorry for the slow response, as you can imagine its all been a little manic over the last couple of weeks.
We miss Oakley terribly, we keep telling ourselves he had the best retirement any dog could wish for.
The TD744 works so well if you are travelling with dogs. Oakley and Lily used to sleep either under the dining table or in the lounge area when we had gone to bed. Having that extra floor space in the rear is just a godsend with a big dog. The habitation door is a lot wider than a lot of motorhomes and we have also found that a huge benefit when taking the dogs in and out of the motorhome.
Not having a rear view hasn’t been a problem, you just get used to using your side mirrors more and when reversing Colin usually gets out and sees me back (I do most of the driving).
Yes we gave in to not watching any television after about 8 months of being on the road. We don’t have a television in the motorhome, we just used our Ipad in the end. We both love the Formula one and Rugby so that is what made us cave in. We will probably add a tv at some point as it is nice to snuggle up and watch a box set or a film on a wet day 🙂
The only thing we would add to the motorhome is some more USB points. You can now buy from the dealers USB points that slide onto the 12v lighting rail. These were not an option when we set out and we would definitely add them. Other than that we haven’t really missed anything and found the specification really good. We did have a safe fitted which was an upgrade.
