We arrived back in France and headed to the Canal du Midi.
The Canal du Midi has been on our bucket list for the last few years but when we have looked into the cost of hiring a boat it has always worked out quite expensive.
We headed to Colombiers which is a small village along the canal and approximately 4 kms from Beziers.
We parked in a camping car Aire overlooking a wheat field.

We have really enjoyed having some walks along the canal with the dogs.

We walked up to the panoramic viewing area so we could get the best view of the Etang de Montady. This unusual sight is a drained lagoon, which dates back to the 13th Century. The area was drained by making ditches from the centre point which is then drained through an underground culvert and through the Malpas hill into the Canal du Midi. It’s shape apparently represents the sun.
