We are heading down the Adriatic coast now on the opposite side to Croatia. The Adriatic sea still looks glorious and the weather is being good to us at 25 degrees. It is hard for us to believe it is now Autumn, although in the evenings on occasions we are having to put a light jumper on and you can see the trees are starting to turn a shade of orange.
Roseto degli Abruzzi is mainly a beach resort and the second largest city in the province of Abruzzo which is central Italy.
We cycled along the dedicated cycle path which runs along the promenade which was about 5 miles of glorious white sandy beaches. Its a real bonus to have the electric bikes as a 2nd form of transport. We tend to use them to explore the towns but they are a great form of exercise for us too, although it is lovely to be able to press a button and get a little bit of extra help if you come across a steep hill!
If you haven’t ever been to a beach resort in Italy then it is certainly recommended. Its seems people buy a little strip of the beach and make a ‘Lido’ the Lido’s are numbered and every one of them has a different theme to attract you in. Sun loungers are all laid out in regimented lines and there is usually a beach bar/toilets and facilities for you to use which is included in your daily hire of your sun loungers.
There is a choice of 40 Lidos’ to choose from in Roseto but in October the majority of them where closed so we could wander along the promenade and just enjoy the views out to sea.
